RMC BMW CCA Web Site FAQs

Q. Why do I have to have an account to register for your events?
A. By using login accounts, you will not have to re-enter the same information (name, address, etc.) over and over again for each event. In addition, it enables the use of a database to store member/participant information and event registration history. This database enables functions we could not otherwise have, including the ability for you to cancel an event registration and for us to very easily send email to those registered for a particular event.

Q. How do I get an account on www.rmcbmwcca.org?
A. Go to the login page by clicking on the "login" link in the top banner, beneath the blue mountains. On that page, click on the "Create an account" link. PLEASE do not create duplicate accounts. If you already have an account and have forgotten the login, use the password recovery link instead.

Q. I have forgotten my password and/or login.  How do I reset these?
A. Go to the login page via the "login" link in the top banner, beneath the blue mountains. Click on the "Recover your login and/or password online" link and follow the instructions on that page.

Q. How can I review or update my personal information (address, phone, email, BMW CCA membership number, etc.) and/or vehicle list?
A. Click on the "My Account" link in the top banner, beneath the blue mountains. Here you will see all of the drivers/participants registered under your account as well as the vehicles that you use for BMW CCA events. Use the pencil icon to the right of fields to edit/update them. Use the red X icon to delete entries, and use the blue plus sign icon to add new driver/participants or vehicles to your login.

Q. How can I tell if my registration was properly recorded?
A. Click on the "My Events" link in the top banner, beneath the blue mountains. Here you will see a list of future events for which you or other drivers/participants within your login have registered. Use the link to switch to a view showing all events, past and future. The table of events contains links to event information and to change your event registration.

Q. How do I allocate a number to autocross with the Rocky Mountain Chapter?
A. Car numbers are unique within each car class and are only allocated when you register for an autocross. This ensures that numbers are not allocated and left unused for then entire season. Follow the links to register for an upcoming autocross and the registration process will walk you through the process of allocating a car number. Note that car numbers are maintained throughout the entire season to facilitate the Autocross Summer Point Series points allocation.

Q. How do I register two people to drive the same car in an autocross?
A1. If both drivers are in the same household, add the second driver in the household via the My Account page (accessible via the link in the top banner) or via the Add Driver in the autocross registration page.  You will use a single vehicle entry.  Just register both drivers using the same vehicle.  You must class the car and assign numbers to each driver/vehicle pair separately.
A2. If the two drivers are in different households, using separate logins to rmcbmwcca.org, each driver enters their own login and driver information entered into the system.  Both drivers must create a vehicle entry describing the car they will drive. Obviously, these will be identical.  Then each driver registers and classes/allocates a number separately using their own login id.

Q. How do I add another driver/participant or new vehicle to my account?
A. Click on the "My Account" link in the top banner, beneath the blue mountains. Then click on the appropriate blue plus sign icon to add drivers or vehicles.

Q. How do I delete driver/participants or vehicles from my account?
A. Click on the "My Account" link in the top banner, beneath the blue mountains. Then click on the appropriate red X icon to delete drivers or vehicles. While this will delete the information from your active account pages, if a driver or vehicle has been registered for a past event, the data is maintained in the database to keep the historical event reports accurate. Note that you will not be permitted to delete drivers or vehicles that are registered in future events.

Q. How do I change the autocross class & car numbers previously allocated and shown on the My Account page and allocated season numbers page?
A. Follow links to one of the autocross event registration pages and use the "Create or Modify a Driver/Car/Class/Number pairing for this season" link. These changes may only be done in association with registering for a future autocross.

Q. How do I update or add my BMW CCA membership number to my account information?
A. Click on the "My Account" link in the top banner, beneath the blue mountains. Click on the pencil icon to the right of the driver/participant name for which you wish to change the CCA membership number. Make the changes and click "submit" to finish.

Q. When I attempt to login to the RMC site, I see a page telling me that my browser must accept cookies.  Why is this?
A. In order to track user page movement from page to page and associate the login information with the right user, the web site must store a Session ID cookie on your PC. This is simply a random number that is uniquely assigned each time you login. It is removed when you logoff or close your browser. Without this cookie, it is impossible to implement a database system and track logins. You must enable the site rmcbmwcca.org to store and access first party cookies to login, use the database system and register for events.

Q. What information does RMC BMW CCA store and track about me and my use of the web site?
A. The only information that we save is the information associated with your login account, user and vehicle information the My Account page and event registration history as seen on the My Events page. A PHP Session ID cookie is stored on your PC during login sessions in order to maintain the association between your login and the pages that you visit. We store the date/time and IP address of your most recent login in order to track whether accounts are still active and to trace potential login abuse/attacks.

Q. Is the web site, my personal information and my credit card number secure?
A. User account, contact and event information can only be accessed via the account that created the data and by individuals responsible for managing the web site and the events hosted by RMC BMW CCA. Passwords are stored in an encrypted form, not in cleartext. Finally, and most importantly, we use an entirely separate service from 1shoppingcart.com to manage our shopping cart and credit card purchases. Credit card transactions are passed directly from 1shoppingcart.com to RMC's own merchant bank account via authorize.net. These mechanisms are among the most secure and reliable electronic commerce solutions available. No credit card information is ever stored within the www.rmcbmwcca.org server.

Q. How is the RMC web site developed, implemented and maintained?
A. We purchase our web site and email hosting from Apollo Hosting. Microsoft FrontPage and basic text editors are used for HTML page creation and editing. Scripting is done with PHP on the server-side and a small amount of Java Script on the client side. The database engine underlying the login and event registration system is MySQL.

Q. What if my question is not addressed here?
A. Send an Email message to webmaster@rmcbmwcca.org with your question. We are quite willing to help!
