A TRIBUTE TO KAREN LANGE

BY: JANET KIYOTA

Thirteen, yes, 13 years later, she is officially retired. Fondly regarded on the AX tarmac as the Goddess of Registration, the facts are indisputable: Karen Lange is one-of-a-kind. As the longest tenured chief of the AX program, her event day duties start with a 4:00am alarm before a 70+ mile drive to be on the tarmac at 6:30am to check in attendees. The two preceding days are filled with answering emails, processing payments, making copies of the course and work assignments, getting her own BMW ready, and knowing Karen, doing her best to accommodate the members who just couldn’t register on time. How she had the energy to work full time, foster kittens, take care of her own animal tribe, all while providing customer service with a smile is one of life’s great mysteries.

Productive people always make time for what is important. Karen made the additional commitment
to step up as Chapter Secretary in March of 2015. She has been recording minutes over the last five years as well as serving on the inaugural Ladies AX committee, Winter Celebration committee, and continually supporting the team however and wherever she was needed.

We will still see Karen enjoying her time as a top driver in the ladies division and joining the fun at events. Michael Feldpusch said it best, “Your humorous way of keeping us in line, great smile, and good attitude is what makes you… you!”

THANK YOU, KAREN! You are our symbol of relentless commitment. You are our emblem of teamwork. You are our model for fun, focus, and supporting your friends. You are our hero.
